Switching desktop spaces and Windows 8 start screen

I run windows 8 full screen using Parallels 8 on the MAC

I place windows to run on desktop 2 and I frequently switch between MAC/Windows by pressing CTRL-Left/Right arrows

Since Windows 8 every time I switch desktops it always takes me back to the Start Menu screen instead of the desktop.

This is really annoying and make working on windows 8 desktop a real pain.

It is possible to prevent the start screen from appearing every time we switch desktops using the MAC?
 
I think it is because of pressing the CTRL key + arrow to switch desktops on the MAC

The CTRL key brings up the start menu on windows 8

Press the CRTL key again in windows 8 to switch back to desktop mode
