Tracking down sudden restart problem

Since installing Parallels, I've sometimes had my computer just suddenly restart. With each new version it happens less often, but I can't isolate a cause other htan the Parallels kernel extension. Do I blame this on Parallels? Has anyone else had this happen? and is there anything that can be done?
 
Same problem here, and VERY fustrating.

What were you using as your settings for VMing WinXP?

I'm trying a fixed size virtual image this time. I was using a auto-adjusting disk image size in Parallels.
 
It would be nice if everyone would set up a forum sig with their configuration. It would make it so much easier to help.

If you are using a MacBook (not pro), you may have a bad main logic board. This has been a known problem with some MacBooks. Apple will fix it at no charge.
 
Added my system specs in. Ever since I switched to a fixed drive, seems to stable up. I will know more tommorrow after doing a full day test.
 
As an update, moving to a fixed sized VM drive seemed to stabalize my Win XP 2 VM. Doing the same activites as I did yesterday, and no hard crashes.
 
I've got almost identical setup to yours (2.0 instead of 2.16) and have been using Parallels with XP and expanding VM since day 1 or Beta 1. I have not had any resets since Beta 6. I'd be really surprised if expanding VM was the cause.
 
I did have one crash today, but at least was an apple warning and was due to tempature. my cores are hitting above 70 c over an 8 hour day, and noticed that the cover over the memory is starting to warp, so i obviously have a bit more problems. :-(

fixed image did stop the no-warning shutdown though. programs I was using in XP are Mindjet Mindmanager Pro 6, and MiniTab 7...nothing else.
 
Restart problem since installing beta

I have been experiencing the restart problem since I installed the beta. It is interesting that bandrzej67 got a temperature warning. I don't think it is running hotter than usual ( although my test is touching the area above the keyboard and yelling "ow it burns").

MacBook Pro 2.16GHz Core Duo, 2GB RAM, OS X 10.4.7
