Transferring Data from Quicken

I have been unable to transfer data from Quicken 2001 for Windows to my Mini Mac.

I saved the Quicken data on my PC to a thumb drive. After installing Parallels, then Windows XP and Quicken 2001 on the Mini Mac, the Mini Mac will not recognize the thumb drive.

I would be grateful for a suggestion on how to effect the data transfer, either by the thumb drive or an alternative. Thank you all.
 
Well, this is not a "General Question", but a Mac question - try that forum. If the Mac will not recognize your thumb drive, then you have a Mac problem. There should be some software in your Mac that will let you read it.
 
I too put Quicken on my WinXP vm and successfully transferred the data using a 1.0 GB thumb drive. It all worked well. Do you have autoconnect enabled on your vm? Have you connected your USB device after Windows was up and running?

Please provide as much detail as you can about your setup and what you did. We'll try to help.

My need for Quicken was the largest single reason I decided to try Parallels and it has really worked out well for me. I am also using a Mac mini so I know it can be done.

Thank you for the helpful post. Turning on auto-connect and inserting the thumb drive after virtual Windows loaded did the trick.

Using my Windows-based Quicken data on my Mac mini was the reason I picked up Parallels. Thanks to you, it now works like a charm.
 
Glad it all worked out for you. I back up my Quicken using the same thumb drive, much like I did when I used it (and Quicken) on a Windows PC. The key is inserting the thumb drive after your guest OS is up and running (ensuring autoconnect is enabled). Also, removal of the device is done by clicking on the hardware icon in the lower right corner of the Window screen. :)
