Trying to boot from SCSI drive 0

When loading Xubuntu 9.10 in Parallels 5 for Mac the machine stays forever in the bootloader at:

"Trying to boot from SCSI drive 0"

OR

"Trying to boot from Primary Master IDE drive ..."

I have tried the solutions in
http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=87706
but to no avail.

This is a fresh install of ubuntu from the CD (2GB HD, 1 core, 1GB-ram). I had to choose the "custom" installation, because in the other installations, Parallels claimed that my CD-drive was not ready.

I have a MacBook Pro 15" (non-unibody) core 2 duo, OSX 10.6. I have an external superdrive. On the ATA-bus of the superdrive is now an Hard-Disk and my OS runs from an SSD.

I’m sorry for the troubles you’re having. To solve the problem as quickly as possible I recommend submitting a support ticket with the Parallels team http://www.parallels.com/support/.

However:
The Guide doesn't work after step 1 (going to step 6) the guide differs from my install screen. Here is what I see after step 1: (see attachment)
I must note that after the installation I do arrive in the OS, but once I herstart I can't boot any more.


I tried to install again:

I now used a typical installation instead of custom. The hard disk is now 64Gb-expandable instead of 2Gb (non-expandable),

I also did not press skip during download of language files. I guess this was the problem, because now I did not arrive at the desktop, but was asked to restart directly after installation. Now the installation worked.
