    Crash submission 387860639.
    • Using Apple M1 Pro with Parallels 17.1.1.
    • Ubuntu 20.04 guest VM is crashing on boot after upgrading packages (or even just installing git). Previous snapshot (before upgrade) is NOT crashing for some reason.
    • Found some threads that suggested this was due to CD disconnect bug and to attach an image, but this does not appear to resolve the issue.
    Anyone encountering this new issue?

Linux kernel 5.4 doesn't handle OOM condition in virtio-gpu correctly, thus the crash.
The simple solution is to add more RAM to your VM. The default of 2Gb is barely enough, give it 6 or 8 Gb.
However, even with more memory this problem may reappear under load. So, ultimately you'd want to switch to HWE channel and update the kernel or upgrade to 21.x.

Thanks very much. I needed to up the RAM to well over 8GB for it to run without crashing.
