Ubuntu Installation Failure

I just tried installing parallels for the first time in Ubuntu 9.04 (also new linux user) and it failed to install after running the parallels-config command in the terminal. I get this error- "Can not compile and/or link drivers. Read /usr/lib/parallels/doc/INSTALL and follow instructions specified in this document." Only thing is, that file nor that directory exist. It also gives me an install log file, that I'll try attaching.

been back and forth with tech support

So, I've been in contact with tech support and they gave me some isntructions to un-tar an archive, run a patch, re-tar it, and replace the old archive with the new patched one. He told me to run this line- "patch -p1 </path_to_patch/support_2.6.26.patch", the only catch is I don't have that file "support_2.6.26.patch". Is it something I can download or did they forget to send it to me?

Ah. Tanks for the tip. I was about to give up, but i'll try this.

edit : where did you found this ? I can't find any referance for desktop on linux

Hi, How did you get on with Workstation on Ubuntu 9.4? There is a step by step in the forums about Ubuntu and it worked. I was so happy. I completly installed on 9.4. You have to follow each step carefully though. The problem I had and am still having is the "Hypervisor". It cant load it so therefore won't load my Guest OS.

Dear all, on my eeepc i've install parallels
http://download.parallels.com/GA/Parallels-2.2.2222-lin.deb

but at the moment of config with command in terminal window

ed@ed-laptop:~$ sudo parallels-config


Compiling Parallels Workstation 2.2 drivers...

Can not compile and/or link drivers. Read /usr/lib/parallels/doc/INSTALL
and follow instructions specified in this document.

Compilation log is available at /usr/lib/parallels/comp.log.17670.error
