Unable to activate Parallels Desktop 12

I am trying to upgrade my Parallels 9 to the newer Parallels 12 so I can upgrade to OS Sierra. After entering the product keys for my old version and the one I just purchase, I get this message. "The product key of a previous version of Parallels Desktop has been not accepted on the license server." How do I fix this?

I purchased the upgrade for version 12 for $49 yesterday. Can I get credit for yesterdays purchase and apply it towards a full version or do I have to pay full price for the full version? I have attached the receipt for reference.
