Primary hard drive on Mac failed and had to rebuild from a time machine backup.

Have Parallels 9 running Windows 7 on a OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 machine.

When trying to relaunch a virtual machine, get message saying "Unable to connect Hard Disk 1" with "A file or device required for the operation of Hard Disk 1 dose not exist or is used by another process, or you have no permission to access it. The virtual machine will continue running, but the device will be disconnected".

    Found this Knowledge base article:

and followed directions to a tee but when getting to step 6, there was only 1 block of <Shot> .... </Shot> under the Snapshots block. See below from the original, "corrupted" DiskDescriptor file:

Hi @ElmerC1, do you have a backup copy of your VM?

Yes....both from the reconstituted file on the rebuild hard drive as well as on the Time Machine backup drive.

In this case, did you try to restore the backup and check the issue?

Yes, sadly, and got exactly the same result as outlined in the first post
