Unable to Connect Hard Disk 1

I am running Desktop Version 6 and recently had a HDD failure and had to install a new HDD on my MBP. Once the time machine was finished, I started to run my Parallels Windows XP instance and it threw the 'Unable to connect Hard Disk 1' error. Comments: A file or device required for the operation of Hard Disk 1 does not exist or is used by another process, or you have no permission to access it. The virtual machine will continue running, but the device will be disconnected.

I have various methods to fix the problem, including building a new Windows XP image and mounting the image as a Hard Drive 2, however hard drive 2 fails in this case. I have tried to mount the image using Parallels Mounter which throws the error: 'Parallels Mounter is unable to browse the virtual hard disk'. Comments: Make sure the virtual disk is not corrupt and is not in use by Parallels Desktop or another application. I did not have Parallels Desktop when running this application.

I don't really care that the visualization isn't working, I am more concerned with the data, hence trying to mount it has a Hard Drive 2.

I also realize that I am sure this has been dealt with before on the forums. The solutions that I did find did not help unfortunately. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
 
Hmm. If the .hdd does not mount in OS X, that's a problem. Any chance you can still get to the .hdd/.pvm file on the dying (hopefully not yet dead) old hard disk?

But that may not even work if the file on there is corrupted.

Exactly what I am in the process of trying to do. The Apple store is allowing me to access the old hard drive to see if I can even pull it off. It seems like I am trying to retrieve a corrupt file off of a corrupt hard drive. Little change this will work, but not sure what else I can do at this point.
 
Similar problem. Just bought 13" MBP 2013, MD102LL/A. Installed Parallels Desktop 9 with Win7 Pro. Everything worked great until this morning (4 days with no problems). I was running a windows program on a USB stick, a training course. I left it on last night, and this morning the program had stopped. The USB stick showed empty in Finder, and Windows wasn't responding. I put the USB stick in a PC, and the program worked fine. I used Force Quit to shut down Parallels, and now it gives me the HDD error same as the OP. Thoughts?
