Unable to enter characters like \ [ {

I must be daft but I just cannot find how to enter characters like \,[,{ etc...
They are very useful in regex writing and the solution that implies copy/paste is just not on.. (and the tool RegexBuddy is only available in Windows)
Is there a way to use the numeric apple keyboard where these are obtained through Alt-Shift : , Shift-Alt ( and Alt ( ?
When I key these when in Parallels I just get a "bump" sound...

Yes I did and tried with no success (see attached screen hardcopy) , where do I get wrong ?

Got it, I've got to use the right handside Alt Command when in Mac Os it's the left one...
