Unable to initialize data on source computer

Hi,

Very exciting product! Great work guys!

I'm having a problem though (you knew I was going to say that...?): I'm running Transporter on an IBM Thinkpad T41 - Windows 2000 Pro SP4, trying to migrate 'From this computer'.

Whether I click 'Advanced' or 'Express' I get a dialogue box with the message "Please wait while Parallels Transporter collects the informa", then, almost immediately the message in the title of this post: "Unable to initialize data on source computer".

I have local admin rights.

I expect you'll need more information than that. I can supply a log from dbmon if required...?

This is just the ubiquitous "me too".

I'm using Windows XP SP2, member of a domain, PC used to be Dual Boot into Linux.

Logged in as local administrator, and the only "extra" programs running are Symantec Corporate Ed. and Synergy.

Any similarities?

Oh, and if I click through three times I get to a blank screen with no volumes.
 
Oops... A me-too to the me-too - the machine I'm working on is a member of a domain too, and I can also get to the screen where you are supposed to select the volume you want to 'Transport'
 
To date I've not found a solution for this. I did absolutely isolate it to my PC. I'm assuming something I've installed is causing problems. Or perhaps a group policy that is set? But at this point its all conjecture until someone from parallels trolls by here and offers advice.
 
Same issue as above

I had the same issue trying to transport TO the same machine. Once I tried to Transport my WinXP from my MacBook, everything worked flawlessly. Try using a second machine ....
 
Same problem...

I'm having the same issue: " Unable to initialize data on source computer".

Source computer: IBM Thinkpad X30 running Windows 2000 SP4
Target computer: MacBook Pro running 10.4.8

When Transporter is run from the Thinkpad, sometimes it reports the above error, sometimes it crashes when clicking "Next" after choosing "From this computer", and sometimes it shows the "Source Volumes" window, which is always blank. When run from the MBP, it always reports the error.

Of course the Thinkpad and MBP are networked, can see each other and share files, etc.

Has anyone solved this?
 
Same tune, slightly different lyrics here.

I'm using Transporter on a new 20" Imac and trying to access a Virtual PC file on another Mac. I can readily share files between the two Macs but the software doesn't seem to be able to do so.

Funny using the previous version (61?) I could make it 50% through the process before things crapped out. With the newest version (72) the process won't even start - just as everyone else here in this topic.

I sent a Private Message to Tim, but never got any response - I really don't understand what these guys are doing! They must be in need of a good programmer - since they have a good product that 'could' be great. Too bad they just can't get the peices to work together....

Does anybody know of another program that can be used instead of Transporter? Is there any application out there that will create a .hdd or .vhd file of a hard disk? I want to migrate my current windows installation to Parallels Desktop for Mac.
