I cannot install Parallels Tools in Debian, Lubuntu, Mint, or any other Linux distro except Ubuntu. I get the same "an error occured" message. It looks to me like the path /usr/lib/parallels-tools/ never successfully gets created.

I have both run the installation from the command line "sudo ./install" and have copied the mounted CD contents to a folder on the drive. Neither works. I have also tried the umount of the CD and then "mount -o exec" method. All I get is errors. I'm using Parallels 9 and 11 on different Macs and they all return the same error.

My log from an Lubuntu installation follows:

Hi @htmanning , The latest Cent OS, debian and other linux distributions are incompatible with Parallels Desktop 9 and 11 . Please refer this article for compatible linux guest operating system. You can purchase and use Parallels Desktop 14 which is compatible with most of the latest linux distributions. You can also download and use the trial version of Parallels Desktop 14 by using this link.

I'm using Parallels 14 and I have the same issue. I have 11 on one computer and 14 on another. They both have this issue.

  4. Hello, could you collect the tech report please? And post the report's ID here.
Did you test the same issue with the Parallels Desktop 15 (trial version)?

I'm having the same issue with the latest version of Parallels 17.1.1
Parallels Tools installer fails due to the absence of libelf-dev and apt-get is not able to install the package cause there is no available candidate
