Unable to Install ParallelsDesktop-16.1.3-49160 on macOS 10.15.7 (Catalina)

I hope someone can help me getting this app install. I have never seen a Mac software installation this poorly implemented after 30 yrs of using Macs!

First, download of DMG file was fast and painless and then the desktop mount went smoothly. After this point, nothing I tried works! Double clicking mounted drive does nothing. Changed Security & Privacy to allow apps from Anywhere did nothing. I re-download the DMG file and remount it and still nothing--NOT even an error message!!!

I felt con into spending $54 U.S. for the upgrade and got nothing out of it!
