Unable to open an Excel file in Apple Mail: "Windows cannot access \\Mac\Home\....

Bit poster
Until recently, I was able to open Excel and Word files that were e-mailed to my iCloud account. Now, I must download them before opening. Any help on getting the proper permissions adjusted in Windows? Thanks in advance.

I have the same problema and I cannot fix it up.
Did you find out any solution?
I have PD version 16, with a macbook pro and Catalyna OS.
I´ve tried to give permissions to \\Mac\Home\Library\Containers\...\apple.mail.com which is the folder that Windows cannot access to pick the cache file up.
