Uninstall Virtual Machine

I have a MacBook Pro (mid-2011) with MacOS Sierra v. 10.12.4, running Parallels Desktop 10 for Mac. It runs Windows 7 as a virtual machine. After the recent ransomware incident, I decided to download and install all ~280 updates for Windows 7 to prevent hacks. I had never updated Windows 7.
Now for some reason my memory is very low and it will not run Windows programs on Parallels. I would like to uninstall the virtual machine and Parallels for Mac.
I can't figure out how to start this process. According to a Parallels KB article, it says to:
1. Launch Parallels Desktop, but do not start your virtual machine. 2. Click on the Parallels icon on the OS X menu bar > select Control Center
For starters, how do I launch Parallels Desktop but not start the virtual machine? Any time I launch Parallels Desktop it automatically starts the virtual machine with Windows 7.
Any tips greatly appreciated!

Thanks Arun. I still need to free up memory so that I can run Windows apps on Parallels for Mac. As I mentioned I have a MacBook Pro (mid-2012) with MacOS Sierra v. 10.12.4, running Parallels Desktop 10 for Mac. It runs Windows 7 as a virtual machine. If the performance is affected then you need to increase the RAM. If the performance is affected due to low space inside virtual machine then increase the space allocated.
