Unique licensing ?

Unfortunately the current german build is 5160, which has still some probs under Leopard. There is no way to run the latest beta, when you have acquired the key for a localized version. OK - you can use a trial key, but after expiration you have to downgrade to your older version again ..

Is there the possiblility to have a unique licensing scheme in future ?
Or maybe a way to convert a localized key to an US-Key ?

IMHO you are loosing huge amounts of customers to e.g. VMware, because of this.

Your thoughts ?

Hi there,

I've the same problem or question. Can I switch licenses, from German to international? When I bought Parallels last weeek I wasn't aware of your license policies and the problem regarding different builds. I would prefer one website with all information, support, dowloads etc. in one place. INstead of reading stuff here and going back do avanquest only to find no information at all and having to wait for stable versions until they are localized.

One license for all or optional switches to international would be much appreciated.

Best Rene

BTW I have the 3214 build, online update days there is no other version available...!?

Hello,

please, be patient, localized versions of the latest build will be available shortly. Anyway, thank you for the feedback, I've passed it to our Localization Team. We will consider if we can do something for its improvement.

sourcemonitor, 3214 is the latest available German build.

Best regards,
Alicia.

Guys... I bought Parallels because I wanted to get some support for this application. What I got so far is major communication/response lags, an unstable localised version and no option to switch to (at least!) somewhat stable international version...

This is somewhat depressing... and REALLY motivates me to go to the competition.

There's still NO update available and I'm stuck with 3214:/

get it done!

Hi jacky,

if you read the whole thread you'll see that I talk about the localized (German) version (which is way behind).

Thanks anyway,
sm

Thx Alicia,

the problem is, after "updating" Parallels it asks me for a license. When I enter mine it says it's not valid... has that something to do with the "localised" license?

Like I said, it's really frustrating to actually PAY for software that does not work and lacks support. IMHO decent support is the main reason people are willing to pay for software at all (when there's so much demos, shareware and freeware available).

What do I do now?

Best

Hello,

sourcemonitor, I'm sorry, I didn't make myself clear. I provided the link for build 5582 which is an update for Parallels Desktop 3.0 (possible upgrade that was suggested by jackybe67) while you have Parallels Desktop 2.5.
The latest German localized build for PD 2.5 was released on 15/01/2008, you can download it here.

Best regards,
Alicia.

Hi Alicia,

yes there may be some confusion, but I'm fully aware that this is about 3.0. Strangely enough I bought a boxed version of Parallels Desktop 3 (it says so on the receipt/invoice, too) which seems to have had an older version or so. I wrote an email to the German provider/distributor too, but they did not respond yet:/

Hopefully, I will have the license I paid for real soon and can update my version.

Thx again,
sm

So what is you current Parallels Desktop build? Please, check it through menu Parallels Desktop->About Parallels Desktop.

Best regards,
Alicia.

Alicia,

I'm not in front of my Mac right now but I believe it to be 2.5.3224, could that be?
If I try to update it via help, search/look for updates it says there are no updates available.

Hello,

if I am not missing anything, for that e-mail of yours you have Parallels Desktop 2.5 German version and a trial 3.0 English version. You can either stay on 2.5 and update to German build 3224 (actually it is better to uninstall and freshly install the latest build), but it seems that you already have it, or buy an upgrade 3.0 German version.
As you said you are on 2.5 (3224), there should not be any problems. Are there any?
