In testing I have found a fairly bumpy road with getting the universal printing to work the same across multiple machines. Below are a few of the problems I have seen. Where possible I have tried to include print screens.

    1. It seems having multiple Adobe Reading products could cause problems with universal print. I have Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional and Adobe Reader 8.0. When I print to the universal printer I get an error message that states "2x Applications client cannot print since you do not have any PDF Reader installed. Please visit http://www.adobe.com to get Adobe reader." This is using any print option from the 2x universal print tab.

    2. From a different client, that does not have Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional and only Adobe 8, the Adobe reader with the .TMP.PDF document does not go away after a successful print when using the Print to default printer, Select printer before printing or User the following printer, but the file does print to the proper printer.

    Is this designed behavior?

I would think that if I chose those options, it would pop the reader with the .tmp.pdf file, print to the designated printer, and then the reader window would go away.

FYI, I tried this on the same client with Adobe 7.0.9 with the same behavior as stated above.

    3. As an FYI you do get an information message in Adobe 8 When trying to print to the Microsoft office document image writer (a software printer added by Office 2003). The information message states, "There wasan error pening this document. This file cannont be found."

I don’t think this is a very notable message, but maybe something to log in a database somewhere.

I sent this to 2x Support as well with screen prints.

    Thanks.
