updated my MAC OS now Parallels won't launch

updated to 10.5.8. now Parellels (version 3) won't open. Is this simply a matter of upgrading to Parallels 6? Will all my files and software (Windows XP and CAD) still be there?

I also upgraded to OS 10.6.8 and after parallels 6 for mac was fully loaded, my computer froze. I had to carry a hard shut down.
I uninstalled parallels and re-installed it, with the same results. Running boot camp for now until a fix is available or might revert to previous version of MAC.

I was running Parallels 5.0 and upgraded my OS operating system to Lion and now Parallels don't start.
Error message says: "unable to load Parallels drivers"

Can I still have the option to upgrade to Parallels 6 without crashing the system later.
