Hi
I updated to the new build 3186. When I first started it it seemed fine but then I tried to update tools. Something happened and the screen window for parallels running Windows is black..so I stopped it and then closed parallels. Opened it again..it starts to boot to windows but then screen is black..just in parallels window. Can't see desktop, start bar, or error messages nothing. If I click in the window I see the timer but then nothing. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Use safe mode

The same thing happened to me. I booted into Win XP using safe mode, installed parallels tools, and rebooted. The black screen was gone and everything returned to normal.

Black screen

How did you get into safe mode? On my system I wasn't able to interrupt the boot process.

Also I just uninstalled the new build and reinstalled 1970 from the CD and I have windows again.

On the start of the windows boot keep pressing F8 until you get an options screen select safe mode and hit return

Thanks so much !!!
That fixed it for me! It is disappointing that I never heard back from Parallels Support!

life is too short for Parallels support to fix windows issues

we all have to learn good house keeping on any our windows machines

read a book or google for help - or read the Microsoft knowledge base

a VM is just another vanilla Windows OS machine
