Updating to 11.2.0 causes "Trying to boot from SATA drive 1..."

I returned from a three-week vacation and fired up Windows 10 via Parallels 11. It worked fine. I did a Check for Updates in Parallels, and as instructed installed the update to 11.2.0. Now Windows won't start; it hangs with "Trying to boot from SATA drive 1...". The Forum/Knowledgebase explanations of how to resolve this look gawdawful. Since this was the result of an update, I'm wondering if Parallels has an easier fix.

Is your Windows boot camp based or created on the Mac directly?

I'm sorry, but I don't understand your question. Shortly after I got my MacBook Pro, I bought Parallels 10 and Windows 8 and installed them. I subsequently upgrated to Parallels 11 and then upgraded to Windows 10. Everything has worked flawlessly until I installed the 11.2.0 update this morning.

Same exact issue here. Not using Bootcamp. Windows 10 Pro VM running Parallels 11.2 on MacBook Pro 2015 on OS X 10.11.4 (El Cap). Same issue whether using VM file in [UserName] > Home > Documents > Parallels or trying with a backup copy made before the 11.2 upgrade.
 
We have exact same issue that happened yesterday!!! Help!!! Not a boot camp build. Window 10 was new install from parallels worked fine for my months now getting error it can't find sata drive
 
A correction and more curious information: the "trying to boot from SATA" issue is a problem on only one of my two Mac OS X 10.11.4 Windows 10 Pro VM installations on Macintosh HD (not bootcamp):
A. The problem exists only on my iMac 5K Retina (2015).
B. The problem does not yet exist (knock on wood) on my MacBook Pro (mid-2014).
Both of them have Parallels 11.2 running Windows 10 Pro VMs -- the MBP boots, the iMac 5K tries.
Now considering a clean reinstall on the iMac 5K [of everything -- OS X and Parallels 11.2 and Windows 10 Pro] Oh, Parallels! What to do?

The problem may occur if the master boot record (MBR) or a boot sector gets corrupted in your Windows VM.
Please try to repair your Windows VM by following the article and let us know how it works.

That article is only good if your windows starts to install but since it cant even find the drive to install from we are screwed. Again, that article does not work because the windows can not even start to be able to get the F8 or try the restore. I think it is Parallels thing not a windows thing since it is happening to two identical MacBooks within a day of the new update. HELP!!
 
Same story here, plus: using Windows Installation Media (iso) on USB drive and selecting USB external device for boot in Parallels preferences. The VM boots into the USB but then every attempt to install or repair fails to find any drive on which to install windows. If select Windows Recovery, the screen says computer must be repaired and contact manufacturer or systems administrator. It can't do clean install either because cannot find any drive whatsoever for the installation. No option but to create a new VM and buy a new Windows 10 license. Time and expense. Thank you, Parallels 11.2.
 
Update: created new Windows 10 Pro VM on Parallels 11.2. Downloaded Windows setup files and used Win 8.1 Pro license key. Windows 10 Pro activated itself, saving the cost of buying a new key.
 
I'm getting the same issue when trying to boot my Boot Camp partition in Parallels 11.2. It's working fine when booting it directly in Boot Camp. Frustrating.

Hello SamC1, could you please remove the current Bootcamp based virtual machine and then re-configure it and check how it works.
 
I'm having about the same problem.
Bootcamp installed Windows 10, running in Parallels. Updated in windows update (major update).
After the update parallels prompted me something about the system wanting to modify to master boot? But parallels didn't allow this.
Result is a restarting system on native bootcamp with a black screen.
In parallels it also reboots on the parallels boot loader.
Help..!
 
I'm running windows 7 and OS10.10.5 all worked well until I did the update with Parallels yesterday. Now windows won't start. Keep getting message "no boot device available".

Running Parallels 11.2.1 and other than the virtual machine randomly choosing to shut itself down when the mac goes to sleep, all has been fairly good until this morning. Windows VM will not boot, says "no boot device is available". Looks like it's trying to boot from SATA optical drive 2. Mac is working fine....
