Upgrade issues

I purchased 3.0 and have been trying to upgrade my existing 2.5.
Downloaed build identified as 4128. Goes through the upgrade process and when I lauch PD I find that I am still on build 3212 version 2.5.
I have even renamed the old Parallels folder and it still launches 3212 vers 2.5.

Am I doing something wrong?

Please advise.

Do you happen to have a separate copy of Parallels installed in /Users/<your username>/Applications?

Also, Control-Click the icon you are clicking (even if it is in the Dock) and go to "Open in Finder". Is the place this opens to different from /Applications?
