Upgrade to Windows 10...

I upgraded my iMac running Windows in Bootcamp. Upgrade went fine except all my data files were changed to "Read only". The fix below corrected this problem.

I then tried to install Win10 on my MacBook Air which is running Win7 via Parallels. It refused to upgrade, saying my video card does not support Win10. I'm wondering if I had a Bootcamp operation on my MBA, it would have then installed? I'm not about to switch as I frequently switch back and forth from OS X to Windows on my MBA. On my iMac, I don't care as I mostly run it in Windows. Anyone have Win10 on a MBA with Parallels?
 
Just to be clear, Dhruba:

If the existing installation of Parallels 10 on the Mac uses an existing installation of Windows 8.1 on Bootcamp, then the correct process for upgrading to Windows 10 is:
1. Restart the Mac directly in Windows 8.1 in the Bootcamp partition
2. Upgrade Windows 8.1 using the upgrade package provided by Microsoft.
3. Restart the Mac in OS X Yosemite partition
4. Open Parallels 10
5. Configure Parallels 10 to access the new Windows 10 installation on the Bootcamp partition.

This means that I do NOT use the special package downloaded from Parallels in http://kb.parallels.com/en/122884

Have I got that right?

I solved the problem in a different manner. Went into Win7 via Parallels and THEN ran the following program,
file:///Users/charlesgarrity/Downloads/MediaCreationTool.exe
I'm running Parallels/Windows in 32 bit. Running this program stated the Win10 installation automatically which then took about 1.5 hours. While I haven't had a chance to check everything, it looks like a good installation.

Note: I tried to run the program above in OS X and the Win10 installation would NOT start.

I can't say yes and I can't say no. On my iMac, I was running Win7 with only Bootcamp and I should add, Yosemite. On the iMac, I was in Bootcamp Win7 when my slot to upgrade became available. I selected install and it went off without a hitch EXCEPT that my data files were read only which I was able to change.

On my MacBook Air with Parallels, I had to go into Parallels Windows and then run...
file:///Users/charlesgarrity/Downloads/MediaCreationTool.exe
The above tool is for 32 bit operation. There is a different tool for 64 bit. After running the above program, it went automatically into the Win 10 installation which also went off without a hitch. I should note on the MBA, I am running El Capitan Beta and after this installation, the Read Only problem didn't exist.
 
I'm still not sure which approach to take when Parallels points to the Bootcamp installation, and I'm reluctant to experiment, because reversing the process may not be easy if I choose the wrong way.

Has anyone following this thread had any experience in the Parallels/Bootcamp upgrade to Windows 10? Dhruba?
