Hi. I must buy and install new Parallels on new Mac with El Capitan. Is it straight forward process just to install Parallels Desktop 11 or 12 on new Mac and copy the Windows 7 Parallels file from old system and run ? Thanks.

  2. Hey, you can just upgrade your Parallels Desktop without loosing any data (your Windows virtual machine).
After the upgrade you will be able to find our your VM in the Parallels Desktop VMs list

If im understanding correctly your buying a new machine and want to get your VM's to the new mac correct? If this is the situation then yes you can install parallels desktop on the new mac and then copy your .pvm file to the same directory on the new machine and fire them up. be sure to reinstall parallels tools though. There are also options to move a vm to another machine
Here is a good Kb article on it
