usb device issues

I'm on a macbook pro with Mac Os X v10.5.2 and just bought a copy of Parallels Desktop 2.5 the other day and which I upgraded today from build 3186 to 3224. I'm running Windows 2000 professional on it. I've been battling with usb devices the whole day and have hit a road block. (I'm dealing with a wacom graphire 3 tablet (which I downloaded updated drivers for) and a microsoft intellipoint mouse for right now).

Before I updated parallels I was getting usage errors for the devices and now whenever I switch over control of either the tablet or the mouse to parallels I get this error message:

and if I leave control with parallels when I restart windows I get this error message during startup:


Additionally my 8G flash drive doesn't cause error messages when I switch it over to parallels, but it doesn't show up at all.

so... if anyone could give me some pointers/advice it would be very much appreciated.
 
USB device itself may not work correctly with even real Windows 2000 as it had problems with USB
Try solution bellow , uninstalling any antivirus first from Windows 2000


1. Start Windows guest OS, go to "Start" -> "Control Panel" -> "System" -> "Device Manager" and uninstall all devices under the "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" (right-click the devices).

2. Shut down your VM.

3. In VM Configuration Editor, delete the USB Controller and start Windows guest OS again.

4. Wait 5-10 minutes until Windows finishes the driver setup.

5. Shut down Windows.

6. Add "USB Controller" back to your VM configuration and start Windows again.
 
I tried that and now the flash drive works but I still get the error messages with the mouse and the tablet.

I don't know if this has any bearing on the situation but the tablet is about six years old and I think it uses usb 1.1, and I think the mouse is the same. However the flash drive I purchased recently and uses 2.0. I also have an older flash drive which I think uses 1.1 usb that I tested and worked fine, but I'm not positive on the version.
 
I didn't have any of these problems with these devices when I used them on 2000 on my old computer, but I realized that I hadn't installed the service pack in parallels like I had on my old computer. So I updated it to SP4 and that solved the bsod errors.

I've still got an issue with it though. The microsoft intellipoint mouse doesn't work in parallels. It doesn't freeze or anything like that, the mouse is just entirely unresponsive, as if it weren't even plugged in. I checked the usb icon and parallels had control of the mouse. Whenever I would release control of it back to the mac I didn't have that issue, and it worked just like macbook's touchpad. I wouldn't care about this issue except that the same happens with the tablet. It works fine as a pointing device under the mac's control, but I need it to work with windows in parallels so that I can use the pressure sensitivity.
 
I installed the intellipoint drivers but still have the same issue. I really don't think it has to do with windows this time. I never had this happen before. I think that it's an issue with the pointing devices other than the touchpad in parallels, not the os.
