USB HD w/iPhone connection

I have a problem that started with never successfully being able to synch my iPhone withe my WinXP VM in version 4 [any build]. I gave up after many tries and just left it on the Mac side. The problem is my email / calendar / contacts are in Outlook, so I have to manually make changes as everything is on the Mac side ...

Now when I plug in my iPhone [into the Mac side] when I have a USB HB connected to my VM, the HD connects / disconnects / connects / disconnects ...

Is anyone else having this type of problem?

I have sent problem report #116596 and need either to move my iPhone to my VM or find a way to solve the HD connection problem.

Hey, I have the EXACT same configuration and EXACT same organization plan in terms of iPhone and Outlook running on VM with Windows XP.

In the preferences for Paralles: go to USB menu, and remove iPhone and/or iPod directions to load onto Windows or Mac OS - do this by highlighting a hardware line and click on "-" in the +/- tool near the bottom of this window. Change check box to "ask me what to do". Next, reboot your iPhone (not essential but can help eliminate other potential problems). Plug iPhone into USB and when window comes up asking whether to connect to Mac or Windows (VM) ...select the Windows XP. At this point, what I found interesting, is that the iPhone is charging, but you still can't see it in Windows as a drive and/or in iTunes; this was so frustrating! In the "view" menu for Parallels, select "Window" mode. Go to "Start" menu and do a "restart". I found that Parallels never really does a hard boot for Windows ...just throws into some sort of frozen state when you turn off your Mac at the end of the day. This hard boot makes the Window XP OS look for new hardware. From there you should see the iPhone in "My Computer" (on Windows) and if your configured iTunes to do so, the iPhone connection will automatically start iTunes; if not start iTunes on your own.

I know that sounded very long winded, but in the end - just plug in your iPhone each time and at worst reboot Windows with a restart. Of course, I hope in the future Parallels or iTunes developers fix this problem. All of this is making me reconsider dumping Windows altogether and going all out Mac with iCal and Office for Mac.

I had to Reset my Iphone, because Itunes in Mac didn't let go the Iphone.
After that i followed this and worked just fine.
