USB success: SRM bicycle computer

Just a note of success:

The SRM "bicycle computer" (measuring watt etc. with some fancy sensors) worked out of the box on Parallels. It comes with a USB-to-Serial-adapter, which got recognized and got to work.

Now if I just would hear the word how to connect Polar fitness watches via Ir the easiest way...

Polar s710 and Parallels. Perhaps.

Well, I'd be interested to know how you get on with getting Polar kit up and running. Currently I'm using the Polar software within Virtual PC. It's horrendous at times with the speed. I'm using the Polar Serial IR adaptor in tandem with the Keyspan USA 19QW.

Can you still get the Polar Serial IR reader or do they just do the USB version now?

Obviously, if the USB version works with Parallels this is a much better option.

Why Polar have'nt adopted Mac software before is a bit short sighted. They've some great products, but they are have a funny way of selling and supporting them. Apparently there is a Le Tour version of the S725 model - but you would'nt know it looking at the website.

Anyway, hope this helps.
 
Oz, when you say "out of the box", what were your settings? I'm not having much success with a Powercontrol V and the included SRM software. Of course, my Parallels installation isn't at original settings at all (can't even remember them) because I tried so many ways to get my Ergomo and Ergoracer to work on Parallels -- never figured that out.
