"Use simple file-sharing" Checkbox is missing

I am having an issue where I receive the message "filepath is not accessible. Access is denied."

I have seen in many different places that unchecking "Use simple file-sharing" in tools>folder settings>view>advanced settings while allow me to see the security tab on the file and gain access to it. In fact, I have done this before on a PC. However, in my parallels advanced settings, no such checkbox exists. What should I do?
 
Which files are you trying to access? are they located on the Mac drive? are you trying to access them through Parallels Shared folders?
