Used XP from bootcamp. Won't take key. Says too many installs. ??

Here's what I did today:
I bought Parallels online.
Went to site to download the new RC 3120 so I could use Bootcamp.
Already had XP installed via Bootcamp.
Asked Parallels to use that partition to install.
After it starts up, XP gives me 3 days to re register.
I hit yes, then enter my XP number. It says sorry,
you've used too many installs. The only place
I've used that number was when I installed XP
into bootcamp. How can I fix this?

Call the 800 number listed and give them the code that is in the pop-up!
They will provide you with a new one-time only key.

Of course it says all this in the pop-up!

What happens if this happens again, since you aren't telling me why it
happened in the first place. What happens if the next time I upgrade Parallels
it does this again? Then I call and they say no dice. How about we fix the
reason it did this in the first place.

Under the liscense agreement with Microsoft, as long as XP is a single copy on a single machine or multiple copies on a single machine, they CANNOT SAY NO!

During earlier betas I called MS over 25 times to reactivate. 8 times in one day!

It happens because the hardware configuration between Boot Camp and Boot Camp under parallels is different. But now that it is installed under both it SHOULD not happen again.

Had no idea it worked that way with MS, having never had to call Apple for such nonsense.
Other than this strangeness, Parallels is working great on my Macbook Pro C2D.
I don't need Windows much, (testing etc.) but it's nice to have it available right within
my trusty Mac OS.
