Using Compressor. Good or bad idea?

I am running V1970 and XPSP2. I was wondering if running compressor was a good idea or not... and if so... run it in the automatic or manual mode?:confused:

Auto mode will allow it to remove non-essential things like backgrounds and games among others. If these are important then use the manual method.
