Using Multiple Users Logon

I've just set up Parallels on an iMac and then installed an XP VM. That all went well.

The problem I've run into is that I set up multiple user account in XP, but when starting up the VM if automatically login to the administrators account. I've checked on the setting in the control panel and it is set to the log on screen. It just never gets to it unless I logout of the admin account.

I took all the defaults when setting things up, so I'm not sure I didn't miss something.

please in Windows go 'Start' -> 'Settings' -> 'Control Panel' -> 'User Accounts' -> 'Advanced' tab -> 'Secure Logon'. Is 'Require users to press Ctrl+Alt+Delete’ checked?

I'm the Mac dude of our company so, I apologize for my lack of Windows knowledge.

I think I'm having a similar issue as dbrdrck.
I installed the latest Parallels. Mac is 10.4.10.
Installed Windows XP SP2.
I created a second user as an admin but when I restart the VM, it logs in automatically to the default Administrator account. If I log off the Admin account, I get back to the Welcome Screen. Oddly enough, I would think to see both accounts (built-in Admin and the second account) but I only see and can access is the second account.

I cannot find the Advanced Tab in User Accounts.
I have three tasks:
Change an account
Create a new account
Change the way users log on and off

Any of these tasks do not give me any button that says Advanced nor do I see anything referring to Ctrl+Alt+Delete.

If I select one of the two users, I still have none of the options above. I do have other option.

This is a stand alone machine not joined to a domain.
In addition we do not join Parallel macs to our domain.

Hiya,

Yes, I've tried those options before I wrote you.
I believe this to be an issue with Parallels and not Windows. Since we have Windows machines running XP sp2 and they do indeed have multiple users and they behave as it should.
I guess I'm going to have to use it as a single user XP machine or go to Boot Camp.

Hello,

please try to do the following:
1. Start your Parallels VM.
2. From the Windows Start menu, choose Run.
3. In the input field, type CONTROL USERPASSWORDS2 and click OK. The User Accounts dialog box appears.
4. In the User Accounts dialog box, open the Users tab and select your account from the Users for this computer list.
5. Select User must enter a username and password to use this computer. Click Apply.

I was having the same issue as above: my VM would boot (without asking for a PW) into the administrator account. I tried all the User options from windows and it still kept booting. Before I read about CONTROL USERPASSWORDS2 I actually dissabled the adminstrator account in windows XP from administrator tools. Now, I can't get the VM to start from PD. (This is a new VM creatd in PD V on my Macbook Pro running OS10.5)... what can I do now??
