Using Parallels to create a VM from an existing Window

I upgraded from Parallels 10 to 11 tonight, and decided to use it with my Bootcamp partition of Windows 10. After I configured the VM it started setting up the Bootcamp VM. During the process, it started the VM up and tried to boot. It failed saying that it could not find a boot device.

The installation of Windows 10 is only three weeks old (got it when Windows 10 shipped), and I took the defaults for the configuration of the VM apart from CPU and ram usage.

I'm running on a 2012 Macbook Pro retina i7 w/ 16gb of ram and 2gb nvidia 650m

I've also created a support request and have that number available if needed. Is there any guidance or knowledge base articles I can use?

I am also no longer able to just reboot into the Windows 10 partition. When I reboot from OS X into the Bootcamp parition, the boot partition would appear to be missing.

This was working without issue until trying to setup the bootcamp parition as a VM.

After a series of suggested knowledge base articles from both the Parallels Twitter account and from the support desk via email, I was unable to resolve this issue. However, right before blowing away the bootcamp partition, I discovered a post on MacRumors that used gptfdisk to recreate the boot partition record. Once I finished the steps outlined in that post, I was able to boot back into my Windows 10 bootcamp partition without an issue.

Once i was in Windows, I rebooted my machine into OS X, deleted the VM that failed to get created properly, and recreated a new VM off the bootcamp partition. The 2nd time around was successful and I am now using my Bootcamp partition as a VM in OS X.

Hopefully this helps others in the future.
