V6 unstable in file operations

Running WinXP in V6 I see a lot of problems with file-access related actions. Whether it is IE or PPT or another program quite often the program will hang/freeze when a File-related action is requested. Sometimes simply clicking on the File menu name will result in the freeze. Other times it'll be when a file browser window is supposed to open to look for or save a file.

V4 never had this level of problems but V6 is very problematic. I'm running build .11828 but the same problems happened in the previous build (.11826) as well. Any ideas about what might be causing the problems?

Had similar issues with my XP installation and finally was forced to create a new virtual machine from scratch. Seems to be working better now.

HOWEVER, even on the freshly-installed XP sp3 installation, I still have the following issue:
When trying to rename a folder inside a shared through \\psf\, the operation fails. Same thing happens when saving a document, although not always. This was also happening on my faulty winXP installation. Does NOT happen on my win7 installation.
