video mastering works (TMPGENC) bootcam vs parallels

system: Imac Core i7 3.4 ghz
Ram: 16GB
Drive 1: 255 GB SSD
Drive 2: 2 TB SATA

Machine and Operating conditon: brand new

I tired encoding same video file to H.264 under bootcamp and parallels. The difference in time is big enough that make me think I am missing a setting or configuration.


Bootcamp: 12 minutes

Parallel: 62 minutes (dedicated 8GB ram and 8 core to parallel)

So unless there is setting in parallel I am missing the difference in encoding time is enormous.
 
According to TMPGENC it uses Intel SDK for i7 to optimize encoding up to 5x times.
My guess is that it uses direct HW access to Intel Graphics Adapter, which is obviously not available directly in VM.
We will check more closely that.
 
Geneariani, BTW, stupid question - how many CPUs have you assigned to VM?
All 8 logical CPUs or you compare 8CPU bootcamps vs. 1VCPU VM?
 
BTW I failed to mention selecting intel SDK is an option and by default it uses x264 encoder. You need to select intel for H.264 encoding. Switching between two the results remain the same.
