Virtual machine crashes or hangs at boot after installation of // tools

Hello all,

after creating a VM of Big Sur on my iMac 27" (2017) from the recovery partition partition, the VM hangs or the emulated macOS crashes at start-up after installing the Parallels tools after the first run.
I recreated the VM but will now refrain from installing the tools (with all the resulting disadvantages).
Has anybody else encountered this problem, or knows of a solution?
