Vitural machine suddenly refuses to work

For no apparent reason, I now get the message "You do not have enough rights to use this virtual machine."

I followed the knowledge base instructions and opening the file in "Get Info" and added my name as a user with read/write permission (even though everybody and admin (me) already had all persmissions. Made no difference.

What else can I try? I don't mind opening a new virtual machine, but I don't want to lose the files on that one or have to reinstall all the applications.
 
Well don't know whether this would help or not, but an old computer trick to do when things are acting funny is to shut down & leave it for a few minutes & then re-boot. Sometimes when a computer is doing things as I understand it fragments of files or something get left behind or something like that which can mess things up. So shutting down (sometimes restart isn't enough time without power) can sometimes clear out garbage so things work again ok. That worked when both Parallels & Bootcamp (I use Bootcamp w Win 7 64 bit as my virtual machine) got messed up after Safari was reset & the caches were emptied. I shut down & went & took a shower & when I came back & booted into bootcamp it was fine. For good measure I opened Outlook then closed it & then shut down bootcamp. Booted Mac side & opened Parallels & it was fixed.

So this can work for miscellaneous strange behavior--not sure about what you are experiencing, but you could try it. I would ALWAYS recommend trying this before more drastic solutions like reinstalling.
