VM stuck in "continuing" state

I'm running Parallels Build 7.0.15107 with a Windows XP SP2 VM (as well as other VMs). This has been running perfectly until today when the VM got stuck in the "Continuing" state. I see no way to interrupt this and revert to stopping the VM, followed by a reboot. Does anyone know how to get out of this state?

The other VMs seem to run ok.

Just to complete this thread (I hope), there were several other Mac-related anomalies I subsequently uncovered at the time on the machine and I had to force power down (I'm running OS X 10.8.4).

After powering back up and restarting Parallels, the Windows XP VM had stopped and I was able to boot it again successfully.
