I have been testing version 6.1 extensively the past few days in anticipation of upgrading from 5.1 however, I'm a bit confused on the web portal. I installed it, and it works fine, but why can ANY user login add a farm, change settings, change the logo, etc. You have gone from a simple click on the application and it loads to a complicated citrix-like web interface. Not to mention, my Linux users are not SOL because I cannot customize it to load a shell script. How can i trim down the web portal to not allow the "General Settings" "Farm Settings" or even the client detection? This is the big holdup so far and I can't find ANY documentation on the web portal. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
Hi jsinclair, Only users with administrative rights on the IIS Machine are shown the settings option... I guess you have some incorrect user policies on that machine.. What is the major issue with client detection? If it does not detect it, it just states cannot detect it. Nixu
I did have the users setup as admins, so that is solved. The client detection keeps telling me 2X client is not installed, even though it is. The client was pushed out through group policy. I tried it on multiple machines with XP, 2000, and Linux. Can we disable that feature at all?
Great For the web portal to detect the client, you must have the latest 2X Client for Windows. Linux Client is not being detected for now. There is no option to remove this feature. Nixu
That's fine. The new Linux client isn't in a stable condition to be used in production yet anyway. Will there be a Linux/Mac detection in the near future? The Windows client is installed and it still isn't detecting. I have version 6.1 latest build. Could it be that it is installed from an AD group policy? I'll try and reinstall the WebPortal and see what happens... Thanks for your help.
Mac Client Detection should be working... Linux Client Detection working on it... No point in reinstalling the WebPortal. Install the client as an administrator on a machine and it should be detected. What Browser are you using? Nixu
The browser used was IE 6.0 and FireFox. Haven't tried IE 7.0 yet, but we aren't deploying it in our corp. The client was installed as a computer policy via AD. Shouldn't that be the same as installing as Administrator? I'll try though.. Thanks again.
Hi, Any news regarding linux client detection? I've just tried it with the 6.1 beta client and everything is exactly the same as it was some months ago. cheers
