What is build 5162?

I couldn't find any announcement of this build, but my Parallels auto updater just finished downloading it… huh? Before I'm going to install it, I'd really be interested in what it does. Is this a general update or just for the German version? Has anybody got any information?

My USA version is still up to date at 5160. Parallels appears to be in Germany (I had to pay a foreign currency fee, when I purchased 3.0, that referred to Germany) so they may be starting the roll out there.

Well, Parallels is definitely NOT in Germany (PD is sold by Avanquest here), so any "starting-the-roll-out-here" would be strange. But it may still be a fix for localized versions only. Still no official statement yet...

Until we got official word about a new update, I recommend not installing build 5162. When I ran "Check for updates" from my copy of Parallels (build 5160), it reported that my version was the latest.
 
After installing 5162 I was not able to access the CD/DVD-drives (internal/externaly) anymore. During boot the messages apear that the File/Drive could not be accessed.
Even after reinstalling ParallelTools, same problem. Manually activation of the drives lead to same error-message.
After downgrading to 5160 everything was fine again.
So I would recommend not to install 5162

Well, that was exactly the reason for me to ask *before* I install. So thanks for beta-testing, I'm currently involved in very demanding production work and would have been *very* upset if this had happened to me. I owe you a cappuccino… or SWSoft/Parallels does ;-)

Number of critical bugs were fixed in 5162. Such as:

1. Cannot dock Visual Studio toolbar in coherence http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?p=80029&highlight=Visual+studio#post80029

2. Japanese Input Method (MSIME) doesn't display convert candidates on a popup correctly.

3. Sound related segfaults: troubles when playing in PokerStars, sometimes when browsing the Web http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=15299

4. Coherence: mouse in AutoCAD http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=16596

This is hotfix update is provided by our support for those who is in trouble because of the bugs listed above. If you don't have these bugs I don't see the reason why you should bother to update.

especially if after this update, network connection does not work anymore! while there is no problem with build 5160.

Hi Andrew,

The coherence/AutoCAD issue is still a problem with 5162 for me. It is a bit better, but it is much smoother in full screen or window mode. I still find it unbearable to use Autocad in coherence mode. Dragging a simple selection window is very slow and jumpy.
