Why don't Parallels release open source version of their Parallels Tools.

    Hi,

Will Parallels open source their code so that some kind of parallels tools equivalent can be developed by the linux community. I mean that will really help and make the whole linux experience much better as open source distributions tend to like open source drivers more compared to closed source ones. Look at Nvidia drivers for instance. This will also avoid certain kernel modules mismatch after updating the system as the open source drivers are updated with the linux distribution maintenance and security updates. So basically it will improve the whole Out of the Box experience and minimise the chance of a linux distribution breaking itself if the drivers are not available for a given kernel etc.

Remembered that funny "F*ck you Nvidia" video by Linux Torvalds :)

What particular components of Parallels Tools are you willing to be open-sourced?

"Video drivers" and some kind of "drag and drop support" being open sourced will most definitely help a lot.
