Why is the favorites folder growing in Finder?

The favorites folder continues to keep growing. 1. How do I keep it at one folder? 2. How do I make it disable it completely?

Dear Jonathan, please shut down your virtual machine and go to virtual machine Configuration->Option->Sharing->Share Windows- >uncheck "Mount virtual disk to Mac desktop" and then start and check how it works. Thanks!
