I am looking to create a VM for the sole purpose of downloading. I am wondering if anyone has an idea of whether a macOS guest would use more or equivalent amount of resources as a Linux guest would in terms of using a VPN inside of the machine and a download client. The guest OS will use a separate USB adapter plugged into my Mac mini, as I am on a campus network which caps network speed per IP address. I need the guest OS to be configured a bit which takes a decent amount of time on my part, and didn't want to pour a bunch of time into trying to fuddle with linux if a macOS VM would be as efficient as linux would be. I also use this mini for a video editing export node and need it to be as efficient as possible. Thanks!!
