Using Parallels Desktop 5.0.9376 and Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate on quad core Mac Pro (2009), 2.66 GHz, 12 GB RAM running OSX 10.6.4. I develop Windows apps under the VM. While performance is generally acceptable, frequent backups are a must with my work. File copy to and from a USB drive is painfully slow. Copying approx. 7000 small files with a total size of 45 MB takes 5 minutes! A similar copy operation between the Win7 VM and the OSX side is also very slow. The same operation from the same USB drive to OSX directly is 40 seconds. To and from an XP VM, it is around 2 minutes. Is there a fix for this? Does Parallels 6 improve on this?
