Windows 10: Printer driver HP Laserjet 2800 or 2820 for emulation? Windows Update problem

I upgraded a Windows 7 pro VM to Windows 10 pro, and printing from my networked Epson XP-850 was not working (config set to use Mac printers, which I understand uses the HP Laserjet driver as a general one for all printers).

I also upgraded a Windows 8.1 Home VM to Windows 10 home, on a different Mac, and printing worked out of the box.

I noticed in Printer Properties that the Windows 10 from 8.1 was using HP Laserjet 2820 driver, but the Windows 10 from Win 7 was using HP Laserjet 2800.

When I changed the Windows 10 from Win 7 to use the 2820 driver, printing started working.

The only problem now is that Windows update on the Window 10 from 7 machine says there is problem installing an update...the HP Laserjet driver 2800. Update history also shows that the same update has already been installed a few times, which may have been when I was trying to get things working.

Is there some way I can straighten this out?

Thank you, I did try those things without success, but anyway my problem has stopped after the first big update to Windows 10.
Windows Update is no longer repeatedly offering me the Laserjet 2800 update, then hanging.
 
There are actually two problems rolled up in this thread:-

1. The Windows 10 pro upgrade from Windows 7 Pro would not print from the default driver installed by Parallels Tools. I had to change the driver in Control Panel -> Devices and Printers -> (right click) Printer Properties -> Advanced from "HP Color LaserJet 2800 series AiO PCL6 Class Driver" to either "HP Color LaserJet 2800 Series PS" or "HP Color LaserJet 2820 AiO PS Class Driver". Both the last two work.

2. When I ran Windows Update in Windows 10, I would always get a message that there was an update for "Microsoft Driver for HP Color Laserjet 2800 Series PS". Windows Update said it "needed to start a separate installation to complete this update." When I clicked "Install now" Windows update would hang and I had to quit it with Task Manager. I did this several times leaving for it sometimes for long periods. Update History shows that this update had been installed several times, but it always offered it in Windows Update. I used Troubleshooting to repair Windows Update but the problem persisted.

It is the second of these two problems which seems to have been solved by the big update to Windows 10 a week or so ago. Windows Update behaves normally now.

The first problem of the printer driver still applies, but it is not too serious for me since printing works fine if I change the driver to one of the two that work. It seems odd that I needed to do this, and I did not need to do it on my other Windows 10 upgrade from Windows 8.1

Hope things a bit clearer now.
