Windows 10 Upgrade Keeps Failing

I have been trying to update my Windows 7 VM to Windows 10 and keep getting a "system exception" error during the copy process. First I made a clone of my current Windows 7. Then I have tried to update that preserving all settings and have even tried not saving anything. No matter what I do, it gets to about 27% done with the copy then reverts back to Windows 7.

Worked with tech. support but they were of no help. Any one else had issues or know of a work around?
