Windows 2000 updates

I am new to virtual machines and am trying to install windows 2000 on one, my problem is when I go to windows updates after it is installed I keep getting the following message that parallels needs to shut down. Then when I go back in again and try to start windows there is an error message again and it wont start windows.
Can anyone help?

Not enougth info to understand what's happen. Anyway - try to set Normal acceleration for VM when updating.
 
try booting up in safe mode...

I remember some probelems with using windows updates on other Virtual Machine Software.
They usually reccomend using update CD's as apposed to any online updates.

Does windows 2000 have a restore last good know settings or system restore application??? Its that long ago since I used win2K I just can't remember.
But anyway if it does use it.
