Windows 8.1 coherence mode question

With Windows 7, I used to be able to pin windows shortcuts to my OSX dock and launch them from coherence mode, however with Windows 8.1 I can't figure out how to launch Windows applications from coherence mode. When I click on the Parallels icon, it takes me to the Windows 8 start screen with a gray background and if I switch to Windows 8 desktop mode, it returns me back to OSX...

Any ideas?

You can add Windows applications folder to dock by performing the below steps:

Go the Virtual Machine menu => Selet Options tab=> Applications=> Check the box for Add Windows application folder to the dock.
