windows 8 install, no previous windows

I'm new to parallels and the windows world. I purchased Win8 from Best Buy today. Do I need a previous version to install Win8?
If so, what is the most economical way to purchase a previous version?

You need to purchase a full version license of Windows 8 from Microsoft if you do not have XP, Vista or 7. Here is a link to their online store: http://www.microsoftstore.com/
You can also check other third party online stores, they run promos from time to time.
