Windows 8 Pro Upgrade Problems

Hello, everyone!

In the past, I was running the Consumer Preview version of Windows 8 and had no problem seeing or using Mac resources (i.e. DVD-ROM drive, folders, photos, videos ,etc) from the Windows tile-based UI. When the final retail version of Windows Pro 8 was released, I downloaded it for $40 and did a clean install on the Consumer Preview VM. Now, my Windows 8 Pro VM doesn't recognize Mac folders or programs on the tile-based UI like it did before. Previously, I could scroll to the right of the "Metro" (Modern) interface and see all my Mac programs arranged as icons. Now, I don't see any of that and my Windows 8 Pro VM isn't the multi-tasking marvel it once was prior to the update to the retail version of Windows Pro 8. Heck, my Windows XP VM has no problem seeing Mac folders, so how do I fix it? Hopefully, its an easy fix! Thanks in advance!

I'm having the exact same problem. When I got Windows 8 after the preview expired this week it continues to give me errors and wont let me download programs that had been working on the preview version.

I'm getting Cannot Access \\psf\home\desktop

and it keeps telling me I'm not connected to the internet while IE works just fine....
 
Im trying to do a windows xp sp3 upgrade to windows 8. As of now, my windows xp VM is 12GB, but the windows 8 upgrade assistant says: need to increase the size of the hard drive to 20GB or so.

So, IF i increase the XP sp3 "size" to 20GB, will it let me upgrade to windows 8?

Also, can I simply copy the windows XP SP3 VM and continue to use it in the future?

The questions are not related to the topic, and probably opening a different thread would be more adequate as this is also already solved.

But anyway, here are your answer:

1- Most likely, yes.
2- Technically yes, legally no (it violates the EULA, as the XP installation license was used for the upgrade).
