Windows 98 doesn’t shutdown

Hello all,

I can’t shutdown Windows 98 completely! It runs down until a black screen, and then nothing more happens.

After restarting Windows launches ScanDisk, and the scanning lasts exceedingly long and freezes at last shortly before the end!

How can I fix this problem?
