Windows corrupted after "upgrade" to OSX Leopard

Hi

I recently did a clean install of Mac OSX Leopard. To save my Parallels Windows Guest OS (Win XP SP2), I just copied the folder "Mac HD / User / Library / Parallels" where my Win XP is stored and put it back at the same place after I installed Leopard. I'd read that this is the way to do it.

But now my windows seems to be corruped, it keeps saying that certain files are missing and I needed to run CHKDSK. After I do that the messages are gone, but I still can't run certain programs because some files appear to be missing.

Did I forget to save some files in my old OSX? It doesn't make any sense to me that files are missing, shouldn't it be all packed in the *.hdd and *.pvs-files?

Hi, yes, I do have read write access to all the files/folders parallels-related. I have also done the permission repair, it didn't change anything. Also have I tried using an older version of parallels which didn't work either.

Any other tips for me?

I'd rather not want to reinstall the Guest OS if possible.

What about ~/Documents/Parallels?
Is this a Boot Camped Windows?
 
Well I only have a Parallels-folder in MacHD/Library. There's nothing in User/Library. Is that the problem? I did install parallels with an installer! What did I do wrong?

Yes, I checked Documents/Parallels. I'm correct that checking read write access is done by cmd-I and making sure that "secured" (or whatever it is in english) is unchecked?

No, no BootCamp involved.

You're the one that said you copied the folder in ~/Library/Parallels I was just asking if you meant Documents instead of Library.

Is your user name now different than the one you had before?

Read and write access is done in the bottom box (Sharing and Permissions) and not under General (shared folders and locked should be unchecked).

If you're doubtful about the correct translation change your language temporarily to english.

Sorry, I did mean Documents when I wrote Library. Of course, I copied the one in Documents.

No, the username is exactly the same.

Oh, that's the box. I indeed thought it was the one under general. But still, I have both permissions for each of the Parallels-folders in programs and in Documents.

I'm not quite sure if I did this right as it didn't really solve anything...

Re-check what permissions you have for the .hdd file itself.

If it's all ok than my conclusion would be that the .hdd file is corrupted.

As a last resort just to clear the permissions possibility, in the cmd+I add yourself a second time even if you're already there.
Note: In english, after the name of the person in permissions if the person is the current user a (Me) appears at the end of the name. If OSX isn't identifying the user name as the same user it won't appear a (Me), or a possibly a (Mich) in your case.

I got permission to write and read for the .hdd file itself, i rechecked that. I also added myself again with no success whatsoever.

I also believe that something's wrong with the file itself. It worries me a bit that something like this can happen just copying a large file onto an external drive and putting it back on the machine, but oh well. At least I can still start the XP so I can save my data.

Try to save a file from the internet to the desktop in Windows, then shut down and restart Windows again, is the file still there? If it is then Windows can successfully write to the disk, and then all this permissions thing we've been talking about doesn't apply.
 
I appear to have done something wrong in my upgrade to leopard and cannot seem to restore my PD. I also had to change the Mac ShortName for the new version of OS X 10.5.6 because of a sync issue. I first attempted to file copy from the disk image prior to the upgrade. Parallels 5600 would not run in 10.5.6, so I downloaded 5625 and now Parallels is asking for the Windows serial numbers.

I am stopping here. I would like to go back, clean the Parallels installs and see if I can get the disk image to run.
